It is poor show: Govt. unable to provide houses or land

"Once we come, 100 meter buffer zone will be out." - UNP MP

Mar 14, Colombo: The UNP firebrand Dr. Rajitha Senarathne, MP today castigated the ruling coalition Freedom Alliance for its failure to provide alternate shelter or land to construct temporary houses for the Tsunami victims.

"Two months have gone. The government has not given land. They bungled the whole thing with the declaration of 100 meter buffer zone. If you prevent people constructing their damaged or fully destroyed houses where they were found earlier, you must provide them land. But this government has not done that. The people having waited so long have begun to build their houses in the same old places. The government objects to such move but do nothing else to solve it," Dr. Senarathne said.

Addressing a media conference in Colombo today, the MP said that this government would not be able to do that. “I do not think this government can do anything. Once we come, 100 meter buffer zone will be out. We will get the international support and construct new houses for these people." he added.
